Therapy Services
Offering Individual psychotherapy to teens and adults who struggle with trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and self-worth. I also offer couples therapy to strengthen communication styles and secure attachment. I am racial-trauma informed and am LGBTQI+ affirming, and am trained in general DBT, CBT, and insight-oriented therapy and as well as the following:
“EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.” EMDR Institute
EMDR uses Bilateral Stimulation (BLS) which is stimuli (visual, auditory or tactile) and occurs in a rhythmic left-right pattern to stimulate both sides of the brain. In EMDR Therapy we use this method to assist the client in processing traumatic memories, and in processing fears or worries of future problems.
“Art therapy can be an individual treatment or used with more than one person… and science suggests that it can reshape our brain and alter our thoughts in a more positive, balanced way” American Art Therapy Association.
Art Therapy allows us to explore and reflect upon our unconscious world so that we may have a deeper understanding of ourselves. Art therapy helps children, adolescents, and adults explore their emotions, improve self-esteem, manage addictions, relieve stress, improve symptoms of anxiety and depression, and cope with a physical illness or disability.
“IFS is a transformative, evidence-based psychotherapy that helps people heal by accessing and loving their protective and wounded inner parts. By helping people first access their Self and, from that core, come to understand and heal their parts, IFS creates inner and outer connectedness.” IFS Institute
IFS can treat anxiety, bipolar disorder, body image issues, compulsive behaviors, depression, panic disorders, physical, emotional or sexual abuse, phobias, substance dependency, and trauma.
“TF-CBT (Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences.
TF-CBT is a structured, short-term treatment model that effectively improves a range of trauma-related outcomes in 8-25 sessions with the child/adolescent and caregiver. TF-CBT also effectively addresses many other trauma impacts, including affective (e.g., depressive, anxiety), cognitive and behavioral problems, as well as improving the participating parent’s or caregiver’s personal distress about the child’s traumatic experience, effective parenting skills, and supportive interactions with the child.” TF-CBT.org
